**THE OPPORTUNITY**

We are currently recruiting for a **Maintenance Planner** to join our **Chemainus Sawmill Division** in **Chemainus, BC.**

**What You’ll Do**:The Maintenance Planner reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and is responsible for the planning, coordination, scheduling and executing of site specific maintenance activities. Working closley with maintenance and operations personnel, the Maintenance Planner is also responsible for the overall quality and efficiency in the planning and execution stages of all maintenance activities.

**Work Environment**:This position is to be performed in person at our Chemainus Sawmill in Chemainus, BC.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Work with operations, maintenance personnel to ensure that the most cost effective and efficient solution is arrived at for maintenance related matters;
- Work with the Procurement Department when preparing bill of materials or project budgets and manage within the confines of the established budget;
- Develop, populate and maintain a comprehensive data base designed to monitor and improve maintenance department efficiency, including identifying areas for cost savings and preventative maintenance schedules;
- Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure minimum interruption to the manufacturing process, while ensuring that work performed maximizes operational run time;
- Utilizing the computer-based work order system scope and estimate jobs, then work with stakeholders to prioritize work orders in order of importance to the business;
- Utilize the results from Predictive Maintenance Programs to track and develop action plans to address any items identified as potential failures to reduce risk of equipment failure or down time;
- Work with existing Preventative Maintenance Work Orders to ensure contents are correct and that the frequency of the PM’s is based on equipment manufactures recommendations or site history;
- Ensure that parts, materials, specialized tools and equipment are in place to ensure the swift execution of planned work;
- Prepare and distribute scope of work and bid documents to contractors as required;
- In cooperation with Maintenance Supervision, schedule maintenance work based on priority, availability of required trades/contractors and material/equipment;
- Monitor maintenance activity progress and adjust completion schedule and manpower requirements accordingly; and,
- Provide maintenance supervision as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**Education and Experience**
- Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, (or a Qualified Trades Ticket);
- 3-5 years of planning or supervisory experience, with the ability to switch from tactical to strategic thinking depending on the situation
- Maintenance background in a manufacturing or sawmilling and lumber processing environment, is an asset.

**Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies**
- Demonstrated business and financial skills with inventory and contractor management;
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to comfortably address a variety of audiences;
- A strong personal commitment to safety and the safety of others including a strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations for British Columbia;
- High level of integrity and professionalism; and,
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
