**Description**:
The Water Reader position includes but is not limited to the following; The individual will be responsible for installing water meters, meter stops, readouts, etc. Will assist in laying and tapping water and installing sewer mains. Cleaning out sewer services and performing camera inspections of residential and commercial properties. Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision. Individual must have the ability to perform all maintenance on water and sewer services within the City of Melville in a timely manner.

This Work involves processes that maintain the safe and effective distribution of potable water that meets local, provincial and federal regulations, and will include: assisting in the collection of water samples, repairing water mains and service lines, flushing hydrants, and installation of service connections. An employee in this position must be able to understand and maintain proper record-keeping and safety procedures and exercise a limited amount of independent judgment in the absence of a supervisor.

The Water Meter Reader is responsible for ensuring inventory of all water distribution supplies is accurate and accounted for, ensuring supplies are readily available. Close communication is required with supervisor/management as well as City Hall staff to ensure high-quality customer service. Good communication skills are essential as this position is routinely in close contact with the public, thus will at all times, needed to be respectful and courteous to the public. The person in this position is also responsible for reading all meters within the City on a monthly basis. Routine labour duties include physical manual work. The Meter Reader will be responsible for his own truck. This truck is to be kept clean and well stocked with the tools and equipment to perform all standard work.

**Qualifications**:
Applicant must hold a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 driver’s license. This person must have a general plumbing knowledge. Must have or be able to obtain training in First Aid CPR, confined space entry, H2S Alive, Ground disturbance and Fall Protection. Must have a clean criminal record check. Preference will be given to those with plumbing experience with knowledge and experience in maintaining clean, safe drinking water. Experience in water treatment and water distribution is considered an asset.
