**Qualifications**:

- Current Graduate of an Orthopaedic Technician Diploma Program preferred.
- Current member of Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT) as a Registered Orthopaedic Technologist required.
- Current CPR and First Aid training required

**Skill, Ability and Experience**:

- Recent experience in Ambulatory Care and/or Hospital setting as an Orthopaedic Tech required
- Comprehensive understanding of principles of fracture care within an ambulatory care setting required
- Critical thinking skills to recognize circumstances where consultation with the physician and/or transfer of care to a registered health

professional is required- Experience communicating effectively with patients/families and the health care team in a manner that promotes positive working relationships required
- Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
- Experience with electronic documentation preferred

**Principal Duties**:

- Within a multidisciplinary team, assist with the care of patients receiving orthopedic care in an ambulatory care setting
- Application of casts as per physician’s orders using a variety of casting materials.
- Application and adjustment of orthopedic devices such as braces, splints, etc.
- Provide health teaching to Ambulatory Care patients receiving care in the orthopedic clinic
- Perform appropriate documentation.
- Participate in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
- Complete continuing education requirements as necessary
- Act as a positive role model for new staff and students
- Other related duties as assigned
