Reporting to the Accounting Manager, we are looking for a skilled **Accounting Assistant** who is a detail-oriented person meeting deadlines, solving problems through their knowledge of accounting functions. This role requires day-to-day processing and monitoring incoming payment, verifying and posting receipts to ensure finances are maintained in an effective date and accurate manner is key.

This is an **onsite 18-month maternity leave contract **position.

**Expected Hours of Work**:
Days and hours of work are Monday through Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Fridays

**Responsibilities/Duties**:

- Perform day to day financial transactions including: verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts receivable data
- Keep track and process accounts and incoming payments
- Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information
- Posts customer payments by recording and processing credit card transactions.
- Resolves valid or authorized credits by entering adjusting entries.
- Summarizes receivables by maintaining invoice accounts and verifying totals
- Act as a primary contact for customer inquiries, reconcile the customer statements and resolve disputes
- Facilitate swift payment of invoices due to the organization
- Resolves collections by examining customer payment plans, payment history, credit line
- Follow up on collections of accounts within payment terms
- Cash Application Posting (CAP)

**Requirements**:

- College Diploma or Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration
- Experience as an Accounting Clerk
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, fair credit practices and collection regulations
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
- Hands-on experience in operating spreadsheets and accounting software
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written) and in MS Office
- Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
- Organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Preference with working in Epicor
- Experience with cost accounting would be an asset.
