**Corporate Security Specialist**:
This position is responsible for the management and administration of the security operations for the Town of Ajax, including developing, implementing and monitoring the Corporate Security Program in partnership with Town departments for the protection of Town employees, its customers, and physical assets. This is accomplished by using a mix of proactive and reactive security measures, supported by current and relevant documentation.

**Key Duties**:

- Develops and implements the corporate security philosophy, policy/procedures and strategy to effectively deliver a centralized solution for the security of Town employees, members of the public and all Town assets utilizing our facilities and services and our physical assets.
- Assumes responsibility of the security function of both the Electronic Security Life Safety Systems and the Physical Security Program, and shall have direct oversight and coordination of Town vendors for: Electronic Security Systems and Contracted Security Programs.
- Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates a Town wide Security Management Plan with interdepartmental engagement in order to deliver training, risk prevention, detection and response programs (service levels) that ensures that all Town staff, customers and assets are protected and that Town services and facilities remain safe.
- Administer and roll-out security awareness training for staff, including new employees during their onboarding stage.
- Ability to read blueprints and details for building construction and/or renovation and ability to communicate using technical terminology for areas of responsibility.
- Develops and implements corporate security policies and procedures.
- Ensures the Town’s Security Program and various security services are delivered in accordance with appropriate legislation and regulations.
- Manages the annual operating/capital budget related to the security function and implements controls to track and monitor expenditures.

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- University degree in Criminology, Business Administration, Criminal Justice or Emergency Management.
- Have training/certification in CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).
- Five years extensive security experience implementing and managing corporate security services in accordance with policies and processes.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act and Public Works Protection, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Health and Risk Management policies and procedures.
- Knowledge in the areas of security practices, methods and enforcement strategies.
- Above average communication skills and a strong customer service orientation to deal effectively with the public, staff, community group representatives and public officials
- Must be able to obtain Basic Emergency Management certification
- Must possess a valid class “G” Ontario Drivers’ License with a clean drivers abstract.
- Ability to provide a current Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to the Town, upon being hired.

**Nice to Have**:

- Successful completion of industry-specific certified professional designation, such as Certified Protection Professional, Certified Fraud Examiner and/or Physical Security Professional is preferred.
- Current member of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) in good standing preferred.

**What we offer to staff**:

- **Salary**: $96,982 - $107,757 per year
- **Hours of Work**: This is a non-union position that works 35 hours per week. The hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. Must be willing and able to work irregular hours, on weekends, and on holidays as required and respond to after work emergencies.
- **Hybrid Work Environment**: The Town is currently reviewing the business needs and the opportunity to offer a hybrid work from home option post COVID-19. A flexible work arrangement, including the option to _partially _work from home is currently a possibility with this position, and can be discussed during the interview process.
