**S5 Elizabeth District Water Operator**:
The Eastern Irrigation District (EID), Brooks, Alberta, seeks a full time Water Operator to join our water delivery team.

The EID, a leader amongst Alberta’s irrigation districts, is an integral component of the economic, environmental, and social fabric of southeastern Alberta. Our core business is the delivery of water to over 300,000 acres of irrigated farmland, 13 storage reservoirs, wetlands, industries, municipalities, and rural acreages throughout our region. Building on a proud 88-year history, the EID maintains its focus on agriculture, sustainability, and social responsibility.

The Water Operator, reporting to the Superintendent, works alongside 10 other divisional team members. This position is responsible for:

- receiving and responding to water delivery and cancellation orders from farmers and other water users,
- timely and efficient distribution of water,
- maintaining accurate, up-to-date records such as water delivery, crop type and irrigation method,
- monitoring and maintenance of water delivery and drainage infrastructure,
- being on call 24/7 during the irrigation season (May to October), and
- during the non-irrigation season the Water Operator will, as part of a construction crew, perform a variety of tasks, which may range from labourer duties to operating light or heavy equipment.

**Key Skills and Competencies**:
The individual must have a broad set of skills and competencies, including, but not limited to:

- strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, produce accurate results, and meet deadlines,
- self-motivated with the ability and willingness to work independently as well as productively and cooperatively in a team environment,
- effective interpersonal communication skills,
- basic computer knowledge,
- valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, and
- knowledge of irrigation farming and experience in the maintenance or construction fields are assets.
