Truck Driver

**Overview**
We are seeking a skilled Truck Driver to join our team.
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the **Truck Driver** operates tractor-trailer combinations or tandem axle trucks typically within city limits. Combos include flat deck, dry van, end dump, roll-offs and B-Trains. Tandems include load-lugger and roll-off work. Drivers will be required to strap or chain down loads and may be required to use automated routing equipment.
Our truck drivers work in non-smoking cabs and are required to work outside when needed to load or unload. They can encounter all kinds of road, weather and traffic conditions. Truck drivers generally work without direct supervision.

**Responsibilities**
- Safely operate trucks to transport goods and materials over short or long distances
- Perform pre-trip inspections on equipment
- Load and unload cargo following safety procedures
- Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
- Responsible and accountable to ensure all loads are secure
- Perform periodic routine checks and inspections on vehicles to ensure proper maintenance
- Comply with applicable legislation including safe operation, carriage of goods, driver's hours of service, occupational health and safety, transportation of dangerous goods and weights and dimensions
- Communicate effectively with the public, customers, dispatch and co-workers both verbally and in written form
- Deliver loads and proper paperwork to our customers in a courteous and timely manner
- Maintain trucks (i.e. greasing, washing) for overall service
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
- Assist in other yard, shop or warehouse duties when the need arises
**Experience**
- Class 1 driver's license and a good driving record is required
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience is required
- Certification from recognized Truck Driving School is considered an asset
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
- Demonstrate strong English communication skills (reading, writing, speaking)
- Exceptional organizational abilities with strong time management skills
- Must be able to lift and/carry up more than 50 lbs when required with the use of mechanical aid or assistance from co-worker
- A positive attitude and ability to provide excellent customer service
- High level of personal integrity
- Strong work ethic and ability to follow directions
- Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to use technology related tools/equipment required by the role
- Knowledge/training on transportation of dangerous goods would be an advantage
