This posting is for multiple, hourly positions at Millennium Place, Glen Allan Recreation Complex, and Ardrossan Recreation Complex

The Fitness Technician I proactively monitor’s Strathcona County Wellness Centres and provides the highest level of customer service to exceed guest expectations. Your primary role in this position is to ensure all guests feel welcome, comfortable, and able to exercise in a clean and organized Wellness Centre.

**Responsibilities**:
Actively engaging and greet guests as they come through the wellness centre to create a comfortable environment
Providing and educating guests on all available options, spontaneous use services such as Wellness Centre orientations and collecting guest feedback/suggestions
Monitoring guest activities to ensure they are done in a safe manner, answering their questions, and familiarizing them with Wellness Centre procedures and etiquette
Complete equipment cleaning, equipment safety checks and statistics of wellness spaces
Circulate the Wellness Centre to maintain organization of fitness equipment
Performing first aid and/or CPR when required and make sure all preventable hazards in the wellness centre are taken care of
Assist group fitness with class set ups
Promote community wellness events to encourage healthy active living by supporting wellness service initiatives in Strathcona County facilities
Willingness to work daytimes, evenings, weekends, and irregular hours
Skills and Abilities

General fitness equipment usage knowledge
Strong verbal and written communication skills; including excellent customer service
Good physical condition to perform active supervision and light housekeeping
The ability to deal effectively with diverse groups of individuals (guests and staff)
Ability to visually monitor a large area with large numbers of guests
Ability to work well as part of a large team

**Qualifications**:
High School Diploma
One year of experience working with the public in a fitness or recreation setting is preferred
Enrollment in a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree or NAIT Personal Fitness Trainer program is considered an asset
Standard First Aid, CPR © and AED required
Conditions of Employment

Submission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.
