Psychotherapy supports individuals, families, or groups of individuals to talk openly and confidentially about their concerns and feelings with a trained professional. Almost all types of psychotherapy involves developing a therapeutic relationship, communicating and creating a therapeutic dialogue, and working to overcome problematic thoughts, feelings or behaviours. Psychotherapy aims to increase an individual's sense of wellbeing and relationships. Psychotherapists are sensitive to the client's needs and employ a wide range of skills to facilitate the client's goals.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Masters level education required.
- Member of the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario, in good standing, or equivalent required.
- A minimum of two (2) years related clinical experience in a mental health setting required.
- Requires extensive knowledge of Niagara Health's OMHAP services, as well as, community mental health and addiction resources required.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial mental health assessments (including mental status examination, risk assessment and substance use assessments) required.
- Must have formal education, in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Trauma Informed Therapy required.
- Demonstrated knowledge and two (2) years' experience in the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma Informed Therapy in clinical, mental health setting required.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating psychotherapeutic groups, specific to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mindfulness and Trauma Therapy required.
- Demonstrates superior knowledge in engaging with patients and/or families who may be reluctant to seek help and establish rapport in various scenarios.
- Strong ability to build effective internal and external partnerships to support care planning, care transitions, and OMHAP system development.
- Good understanding of mental health diagnoses and a basic working knowledge of psychotropic medications.
- Demonstrated knowledge of OCSWSSW Standards of Practice and commitment to maintaining reflective practice standards as described by the OSWSSW.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Health Care Consent Act and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA).
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development, ongoing education and integration of research into clinical practice.
- Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, conflict resolution and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and effective oral/written communication skills.
- Ability to foster collaborative working relationships.
- Able to work both independently and as part of the inter-professional team.
- Applies Niagara Health CORE values, professional practice standards, recovery/client-centred philosophy to client care and service.
- Current SMG (Safe Management Group) or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training required.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours to reflect patient population needs.
- Consistent and regular attendance required.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset.
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
