Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

**Position Overview**:
This position will support research to gain an understanding of the impact of Canada’s new immigration measures for Ukrainian nationals on national immigration and refugee policy, at the municipal level, and on individual Ukrainians. The project’s methodology will combine legal and policy analysis and spatial analysis of displaced Ukrainians’ trajectories from their specific location of origin to Winnipeg and Quebec City, tracking the evolution of their visa status. The project requires a research assistant to research and compile information on temporary and permanent resident pathways available to Ukrainian nationals in Canada.

**Duties**:

- Assist in data collection and analysis on
- Federal immigration measures and support for Ukrainians and their families
- Federal immigration pathways for permanent residence that Ukrainian nationals may access (family, economic, humanitarian)
- Federal immigration pathways for permanent residence (family, economic, humanitarian)
- Federal immigration pathways for temporary residence (student, work, tourist)
- Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) Ukraine Special Measures Expression of Interest
- Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program
- Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program
- Ukrainian asylum claims in Canada
- Assist with duties related to the production of reports, presentations & summaries of collected data
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of Canada’s immigration programs (through course work or work experience).
- Demonstrated familiarity with Canadian case-law and legislation (through course work or work experience).
- Preference will be given to high achieving students in their 3rd or 4th year in Human Rights or Criminal Justice.
- Excellent skills in careful and attentive reading and writing.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
