Child Care Worker

GIAG is looking for energetic and dynamic individuals to fill Child Care Educator positions in our TLC (The Learning Centre) Summer Programs at the following sites: Cornwall, Long Sault, Iroquois, and Winchester.

**Start Date**:July 3 2023

**End Date**: August 25 2023

**Hourly Wage**: $17.50 (PWEG included within this hourly rate)

**Hours**: 6hrs/per day - 30hrs/per week

**Various Shifts**: 12p.m.6p.m., 8a.m.2p.m., 9a.m. - 3p.m., 6:30a.m.12:30a.m.

Hours: 6hrs/per day - 30hrs/per week
- Shifts are based on the enrollment of the program._

**Summer programs operate at the following UCDSB schools buildings**:

- Bridgewood Public School (Cornwall) - 2 vacancies
- Longue Sault Public School - 2 vacancies
- Iroquois Public School - 2 vacancies
- Winchester Public School - 2 vacancies

**REQUIREMENTS**
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
- Current/Clear Vulnerable Sector Check
- Health Assessment
- Updated Record of Immunizations - Ministry and Public Health requires the following immunization records on file:
**Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis** (Tdap) - required every 10 years

**Measles/Mumps/Rubella **(MMR) - 2 documented doses of MMR vaccine or proof of immunity (blood test) (for those born before 1970 they are considered immune)

**Varicella** (chicken pox) - 2 doses of chickenpox vaccine or proof of immunity (blood test)

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervise children in program, ensuring that a stimulating program is planned and implemented and that the program is designed to promote belonging, well-being, engagement, and expression by using the ‘’How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years’’
- Will be in contact with other TLC staff, parents, children, caregivers and community partners.

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**
- Early Childhood Education Diploma an asset but **not mandatory**:

- Oral and written fluency in English
- Experience working with young children in a group environment
- Knowledge of community resources
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work effectively in a team
- Basic computer skills (Excel, Word Perfect, Word)

**DECISION MAKING/COMPLEX ANALYSIS**
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills
- Be sensitive when communicating with parents/caregivers
- Work independently but also work as part of a team
- Problem solving skills are required

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- Works indoors and outdoors
- Work in school settings
- Uses cleaning solutions to wash toys and resources.
- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
