**What can I expect to do in this role?**:

- Ensures proper security and records are maintained in offender laundry section including computer inventory control
- Unload incoming laundry, checking contents against shipping documents and distribute appropriately
- Maintain cleanliness of work area, ensure laundry and supplies are stored in proper areas, and maintain records
- Check delivery of supplies/equipment against packing slips and purchase orders; notify supervisor of errors or discrepancies
- Ensure safety and security of inmate workers and laundry area of warehouse
- Other duties, as assigned
- NOTE: this position requires working with and supervising inmate workers

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory**:

- You are currently certified to operate a forklift OR are able to obtain certification within 3 months of hire

**Specialized Knowledge and Experience**:

- You have demonstrated knowledge of proper clean and soiled laundry handling to receive, sort and distribute clean laundry
- You have the ability to organize inventory control records, ensuring proper receipt and delivery of laundry
- You have knowledge of health and safety as well as Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS)

**Communication Skills**:

- You can follow general instructions regarding laundry tasks and proper loading of procedures
- You can report issues and equipment malfunctions
- You have written communication skills to maintain records and logs
- You are able to supervise and direct inmate workers

**Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills**:

- You can organize and operate the offender laundry area
- You are able to check and inspect incoming goods for correct quantity and quality, loss or damage
- You can maintain inventory control to identify and address diminishing stock
- You demonstrate analytical skills to provide input into offender disciplinary/performance reports, and to recognize security and workplace hazards
- You demonstrate tact and discretion to maintain control of offender helpers and deal with behavioural issues as they arise
