Barn Assistant

**Detailed Description of Responsibilities**:

- Helping to maintain a safe, positive, and comfortable barn environment for horses, trainers, riders, and barn staff.
- Assisting in the monitoring, care, and maintenance of all horses at Cobblestone Farm according to the owner's instructions.
- Cleaning stalls, paddocks, and water buckets and adding bedding as needed.
- Cleaning auto waterers as directed and scheduled.
- Assisting in horse turnout. (It is Cobblestone Farm policy to always have a second person present when the horses are turned out and turned in.)
- Setting feeds and throwing hay.
- Leading horses into and taking horses off the horse exerciser as instructed.
- Putting on and taking off horse blankets and fly masks as required.
- Cleaning and sweeping feed room, office, tack room, lunch room, and restroom as needed.
- Watering the outdoor riding arena for riders and horses on an as-needed basis.
- Operating farm equipment as required (e.g. blowers, Gators, fans, sprinklers).
- Other related duties.

While some flexibility with working hours is expected, a typical work week for the Barn Assistant includes two consecutive days off and rarely exceeds 40 hours.

Horse handling experience, maturity, ability to work with mínimal supervision, independent transportation, excellent work ethics, honesty, team spirit, and a sense of humour.
