**Reporting to**: Forestry Crew Lead

**Hours**:Average 56 to 80 hours bi-weekly while performing duties (excluding fire-fighting), during fire fighting season up to 168 hours bi-weekly (up to 12 hour days while deployed for fire fighting, up to 14 days of continuous work).

**Wage**:
$19.00 to $24.00 per hour while performing duties (excluding fire-fighting)

$20 to $33 per hour while on firefighting deployment

**Summary of Duties**:
The Junior Saw Labourer is a member of Líl'wat Forestry Venture silviculture crews that performs various forestry and silviculture-related tasks. This position works alongside experienced forestry team members to perform their daily tasks safely and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of Líl'wat Forestry Ventures LP.

**Key Deliverables and Expectations**:

- Works in teams up to 5 to complete project assignments provided by the Senior Saw Labourer and/or Forestry Crew Lead.
- Communicates effectively with the Senior Saw Labourers and/or Forestry Crew Lead for project updates.
- Understands and complies with the BC Forest Safety Council “SAFE Certification” program.
- Conforms to Occupational Health and Safety Laws and WCB Regulations.
- Participates in maintaining Health and Safety standards by adhering to work practices in the field and by supporting emergency health and safety measures.
- Properly uses and logs the use of PPE, ERP and First Aid Equipment.
- Attends and participates in daily safety meetings, understanding identified risks and hazards for each day on each specific project.
- Works with equipment, required gear and fuel for each project.
- Perform daily forestry and silviculture tasks like running chainsaws, tree planting, running brush saws, and supporting firefighting efforts.
- Responsible for fuel management, cutting trees, clearing debris, digging trenches, and pumping water on burning areas to fight forest fires.
- Maintain firefighting equipment.
- Participates in the operation and maintenance of crew vehicles and equipment by ensuring compliance with safety standards, training procedures and local laws.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

**Experience and Attributes**:

- Class 5 driver’s license preferred, but not required.
- OFA Level 1 preferred, but not required.
- Firefighting training (S100, S185, ICS100, S212, S235, S232, S211) an asset
- Experience in firefighting and fuels management is an asset
- Experience in hand and power tool safety preferred but not required.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt in a flexible and fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills
- Hardworking, positive attitude, willing to take initiative.
- Excellent/good interpersonal skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Ability to travel as required for the position.
- Physically fit, with the ability to lift, pull or carry up to 50lbs.
