Facilities Superintendent

**Purpose and Scope**
Cancoil Facilities Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance of all fixed assets, building and grounds in optimum working order.
**Organization Relationship**
This position reports to company’s maintenance supervisor.
**Working Conditions**
The Facilities Superintendent works in a controlled industrial setting. Personal protective equipment such as safety boots and eyeglasses are mandatory. Hard hat and protective gloves will be required, at times, depending upon the nature of work being performed. Occasional use of computer would be necessary. Travel between plant locations will be required, at times.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Arrange and execute preventative and energy repairs and upkeep of buildings.
- Ensure that all support equipment is operating efficiently and as designed.
- Carry out routine inspection of all buildings, grounds and support equipment (including Company vehicles)
- Manage waste, recyclables and hazardous materials
- Maintain building security systems in working order
- Manage lawn care services
- Manage snow removal services
- Manage of parking lots
- Manage Janitorial services contracts
- Manage drinking water services and contracts
- Ensure City Permits for all buildings are obtained in a timely manner
- Ensure Fire Safety Equipment complies with Fire Code and that fire safety procedures are followed on an annual basis.
- Carry out scheduled inspections including monthly JHSC inspection, annual site evaluation, health & safety, audits and preventative maintenance as required of building, equipment and tools to ensure that all equipment is in good repair and working order. Complete sign off sheet.
- Ensure eye wash stations and first aid kits are compliant
- Liaise with outside contractors to ensure compliance with building rules and regulations and the building systems are not altered or damaged; assist and monitor contractors as required.
- Review invoices and expenditures to ensure that spending is within planned budget allocations.
- Review with the Director of Operations unbudgeted expenses prior to incurring them.
- Provide technical or administrative advice to internal and external clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned
**Education and Training**
- WHMIS, Fall Arrest
- Minimum 5 years direct work experience as a Facilities Superintendent or Building Operator
- A valid driver’s license (G or higher)
- Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Office
- Is required to have a college degree. Human Resources will determine if education and experiences are considered “equivalent”.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $90,000.00 per year
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- On call

- Kingston, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (required)
Willingness to travel:
- 25% (preferred)
