Ellerslie Road Baptist Church, a multicultural, intergenerational church in northern Alberta with regular worship attendance of 1,200 is searching for a full-time Worship Pastor to join its team of 20 pastors and support staff.

Ellerslie is a church with a rich heritage and a bright future. The church leadership is aligned in its vision to make disciples who love God, love people, and serve the world. Since its founding over 75 years ago, Ellerslie has grown from a small fellowship of believers to an influential church that is active in church planting and international and local cross-cultural mission, and is a leader in its denomination, the Baptist General Conference of Canada. Beyond a rich heritage of Christian mission, Ellerslie today has a vibrant ministry among the many young and growing families in its community. The church has a robust online presence and holds worship services in English and Mandarin, and hosts a Persian language service conducted by local mission partners.

Blessed with stable finances, Ellerslie now is planning for the next chapter in its history. Given its heritage, strategic location, and current organizational strength, the church is uniquely positioned to be a prevailing church in a fast-growing region that has few expressions of Christian worship.

The Worship Pastor will oversee all aspects of the musicians and vocalists and work closely with the Technical Director to give leadership to the Worship Arts department. In building the team, the Worship Pastor will recruit, equip, and resource musicians, artists, and other volunteers to create an environment that will engage the whole church family in worship. Beyond Sunday services, the Worship Pastor will work with the Lead Pastor in planning Christmas, Easter, and other special services. The Worship Pastor will also support other Ellerslie staff in developing musical talent and passion for all ages and stages.

- A vibrant expression of worship and thoughtful service order that encourages the whole church family to engage in singing and worship.
- A worship environment that inspires participants to invite those in their networks who do not yet know Jesus to meet him and come to know him.
- Passionate Worship Arts volunteers that are growing in their walk with Jesus, their ministry skills, and in number.
- Supporting other Ellerslie ministries, especially youth and children, in growing a passion for music and worship for all ages.
- Beyond the platform, the whole church family would feel loved, encouraged, and supported in their walk with Jesus.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Under the oversight of the Lead Pastor, the Worship Pastor will prayerfully lead in the planning of the worship services, align to sermon themes, biblical & theological depth, and musical sensitivity.
- The Worship Pastor will be a regular worship leader and is responsible for scheduling all worship personnel for both leading and serving in our Sunday worship services.
- The Worship Pastor will manage the Ellerslie budget lines related to Worship Arts and other ministry areas as may be assigned.
- The Worship Pastor will work closely with the Technical Director to recruit, train, and develop teams in Worship Arts musically, technically, and spiritually.
- In partnership with the Lead Pastor and other pastoral staff, the Worship Pastor will help to design and coordinate worship elements for special events, and to integrate worship into the broader church and programs.
- The Worship Pastor will provide pastoral duties, support, and encouragement to members of the Worship Arts team and church family.
- The Worship Pastor will demonstrate a personal commitment to spiritual development, leading by example in prayer and worship, and fostering a spiritually nurturing environment to both the Worship Arts ministry and the congregation.
- The Worship Pastor may be assigned other pastoral duties as required or assigned by the Lead Pastor.

**Preferred education and experience**:

- Education: Formal theological and musical training with at minimum a Bachelor’s degree
- Experience: Five years’ experience in local church ministry

**Required skills and competencies**:

- Demonstrated success in working with adults in a church setting.
- Demonstrated understanding of and skill in worship, music, and issues related to incorporating contemporary forms of worship with a strong biblical & theological foundation.
- A working knowledge of issues related to audio and visual equipment and technology.
- Must be a team player willing to work collegially with Ellerslie staff and leadership in harmony with our vision and values.
- A personal commitment to spiritual development, especially as expressed through a regular reading of God’s Word, personal prayer, and consistent worship.
