**The Opportunity**:
The merchandiser is responsible for strategic inventory planning and forecasting. This person will work closely with the buying, sales and finance departments to ensure sales goals are achieved by anticipating customer demand, ensuring delivery of product to appropriate stores and analyzing opportunities for improvement.
**The Responsibilities**:
- Manage the development of annual, seasonal, monthly and weekly merchandise strategies in cost of goods and units
- Analyze brick & mortar and online sales, profitability and conversion to inform and influence merchandising team’s decisions
- Determine Open to Buy and align merchandise financial plans by product classification, planned vs actuals.
- In partnership with buyers, define assortment strategies in terms of brand/category mix, width and depth of assortment, margins etc.
- Determine inventory flow through seasons to align supply with financial plans.
- In-season, partner with buyers to provide forecast and develop corrective actions to meet and exceed sell thru and margin targets.
- Actively participate in assortment development and review, providing data and analysis to support decision-making
- Collaborate on best strategies to address product liabilities and develop action plans to liquidate in a timely and profitable manner such as cancels, RTVs, and markdown
- Provide periodic reporting on business performance
- Ensure tailored selection of products for new stores are available for opening to boost sales performance and create demand
- Work with Brand Managers to develop in-store and e-commerce promotional strategies
- Partner with all cross functional departments outside of merchandising
**The Requirements**:
- 2+ years of multi-brand retail experience
- 2+ years of merchandise planning experience
- Allocations experience an asset.
- Possess an innate understanding of inventory management, merchandise planning and supply chain in a retail environment
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Entrepreneurship - an ability to make decisions and take calculated risks
- Experience in data analysis and Microsoft office software, specifically excel
- Power Bi experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proactive and goal-oriented individual
