**Position Description**:
Reporting to the Director of the Children’s Stroke Program, the Research Analyst I is responsible for developing and implementing innovative and effective solutions to neuroimaging, technical challenges faced by SILC. The Research Analyst I facilitates scientific creativity and productivity by aiding the adoption of advanced technical research techniques and leveraging overlaps between various research and clinical projects, both internal and external to SickKids.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

- Facilitate ongoing research by adopting and developing both software and hardware solutions for the collection, analysis and interpretation of neuroimaging data.
- Implement and maintain relevant software necessary for the acquisition, storage, and analysis of neuroimaging data.
- Help summarize and contextualize results both verbally and graphically for presentations, publications and grants.
- Partner with PIs and team-leaders (e.g., physicians, post-docs, research associates) to identify solutions to experimental and analytical issues.
- Keep current with new methodologies and technologies as they relate to areas of scientific interest to ensure that proposed solutions are aligned with scientific objectives of the research study.
- Facilitate the adoption of existing solutions, and the development of new solutions to increase productivity and to ensure that research is both current and relevant.
- Provide technical expertise and support to researchers (Principal Investigators, lab members, trainees) with respect to software and hardware resources.
- Responsible for authoring peer-reviewed abstracts and co-authoring scientific manuscripts.
- Use high-level written, verbal and graphical communication to express complex scientific concepts effectively.
- Under the direction of researchers and team-leaders, identify and carry out quality improvement initiatives related to the use of software and equipment necessary for conducting research, including maintaining and upgrading software and hardware and providing training as necessary.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair of systems, equipment and network including troubleshooting, identifying and solving performance issues (liaising with IS and Research IT as necessary)

Here’s What You’ll Need:

- Undergraduate degree in Engineering (preferred), Mathematics or Physics.
- Must have proven mathematical modeling and advanced statistical analysis
- Must have significant computer programming experience, especially familiarity with MATLAB, python, and bash.
- Experience with Linux and networking administration is an asset.
- 0-3 years of work experience and/or graduate education.
- Experience in a research or academic health care environment preferred.
- Experience with neuroimaging techniques, such as fMRI, MRI, EEG, MEG, and DTI is preferred.
