**Neighborhood Drop-In Centre Assistant**

**8 Week Canada Summer Jobs Program Position**

**35 Hours/Week**

**Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm**

**Job Scope**:
The Neighbourhood Drop-In Assistant will work with a multi-disciplinary team as a support to the St. Clair EarlyON Child & Family Centre, and to the Outreach program in selected neighborhoods in our community. They will be interacting with children ranging from birth to adolescent age, and their parents. The primary focus will be on planning and implementing age-appropriate programming which will be some combination of virtual and in-person activities. They will be providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere for early learning experiences through sensitive, nurturing interactions with the children.

**Job Duties**:

- Assists the primary team in the planning, preparation, and operations of all aspects of the programs.
- Creating developmentally appropriate programming for children of various ages and their parents
- virtual and in-person
- Ability to support and assist families/parents/caregivers with their needs.
- Planning and set up of activities, snack preparation, nurturing and sensitive interaction with children (ages ranging from birth to early adolescent).
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

**Qualifications**:
Additional qualifications would include:

- Experience working with children and families.
- Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
- Demonstrates lots of initiative and highly motivated.
- Exhibit leadership skills

To be eligible, students must meet ALL criteria:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment.
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act_2; and,
- be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**Wage**: $15.50 per hour
