**About the role**
The Manager, Policy & Research is accountable for analyzing Canadian and international financial sector policy issues affecting the Corporation, its member institutions and the financial services industry to provide guidance on the formulation of corporate positions and policies, to identify the impact of public policy issues including issues with respect to the deposit insurance and resolution framework.
This role can be performed from our Ottawa or Toronto offices, following a hybrid model approach. This is a full-time permanent opportunity. #LI-Hybrid

The role of the Manager, Policy & Research is to assess, develop and advocate public policy and positions to meet CDIC’s mandate and enable the business to operate efficiently and effectively.
The core responsibilities are to:
- Proactively develop policy and legislative proposals that enable CDIC to meet its mandate and enable the business to operate efficiently and effectively.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal business units and external stakeholders to advance policy work.
- Advance CDIC policy positions with stakeholders such as Canada’s financial safety net organizations. The federal agencies responsible for this safety net include the Department of Finance, Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, Bank of Canada, Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, and CDIC.
The Manager will also:
- Provide strategic advice and guidance on public policy pertaining to the financial sector.
- Conduct proactive research on the economic conditions and financial sector to determine the impact on the CDIC mandate, frameworks, and its member institutions. Foster strong relationships with internal working level counterparts and external stakeholders, in particular the financial safety net.
- Mentor entry-level policy officers or students across the division to assist in their professional growth.

**We trust you will bring your expertise**
- A minimum of 5 years of experience working in a public policy, research, or legislative environment.
- Pertinent work experience in a financial institution, industry association, relevant government organization, or a related field, and experience in participating in drafting legislation and regulations are an asset.
- The combination of skills, experience, and education that an individual will bring to CDIC will be considered in lieu of a master’s degree.
Knowledge and understanding of:
- The Canadian financial sector, including the mandates and responsibilities of the financial safety-net agencies.
- Major policy and regulatory issues in the financial sector.
- General trends and challenges in the financial sector.
- Various international organizations including the Financial Stability Board, the International Association of Deposit Insurers, and the Basel Committee.
- Understanding financial institution’s financial statements and the structure of the balance sheet is an asset.

Security Clearance: Eligibility to obtain a Secret level security clearance
