**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for a Biological Technician. This position will primarily be responsible for contacting service personnel for major repair of all environment chambers, carries out minor repairs, assist in the maintenance of equipment and laboratory space. The Biological Technician will also obtain materials for equipment construction, designs, and carries out design, fabrication and modification of equipment needed for research and teaching.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Bachelor of Science degree in biology or entomology.
- Three years of directly related experience required.
- Experience in entomology and biology is preferred including an understanding of insect identification and function.
- Experience in trouble shooting mechanical issues on field and lab equipment and resolving them.
- Beekeeping experience is preferred or a willingness to be trained to perform routine operations involving honey bee colonies.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to work and communicate effectively and collaboratively with staff and students is required.
- Ability to use carpentry and mechanical tools for wood, metal, plastics and equipment repair is required.
- Ability to use and learn the various computer software programs required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
