**PROFILE**

We are currently recruiting for a Trademark Searcher to join our fast paced team. The incumbent will provide support to areas of the IP Department. This role is responsible for conducting trademark searches of various databases and providing customized reports of those results for the IP professionals. This position receives some direction or guidance; some tasks and objectives are accomplished independently.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

- Conduct trade mark searches based on queries of specific databases and other sources for the trademark as exact, phonetic equivalents, variant spelling and meaning, and otherwise confusing similar uses of the trademarks. As well, searches are conducted using homonyms, synonyms, same prefix, suffix, mid-word character strings, colloquialisms, truncated terms, and mark/design equivalents.
- Conduct other searches and prepare reports for professionals such as trademark, pharmaceutical, initial/acronym, design, locate, how common, disclaimer, owner’s name and various other miscellaneous searches.
- Liaise with IP professionals and outside search vendor to ensure accurate communication between the two parties. Review searches conducted by outside vendor to ensure quality of the search product.
- Prepare customized search reports for IP professionals and clients.
- Conduct a bi-weekly search of the database for the status of specific marks given by the IP professionals and to notify professional when the desired status is achieved.

***QUALIFICATIONS**
- General studies in a post secondary institution
- 5 years of direct related experience
- Capacity to work independently, as well as in a team environment
- Produce a high quality and quantity of work product, including under tight timelines
- Able to prioritize and to redefine priorities when necessary
- Handle stress in a business-like manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with other Firm members, with the aptitude to take care of clients’ needs in a professional and courteous manner
- Excellent proficiency with Word 2016, Outlook is an asset
