**About the team**
The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation Disability Services team provides day-to-day administration for the Teachers’ Long Term Disability Plan and rehabilitation back-to-work services to teachers.
**What you’ll do**
The Manager, Disability Services provides leadership to the Teachers’ Long-Term Disability Plan and is responsible for the delivery of the plan administration. This position provides leadership to the internal operations of the work unit and implements short
- and long-range action plans while remaining aligned with the vision and strategic plan. This position is responsible for the positive growth and development of the case management and disability administration team overseeing the operations of the plans including human resources, communications, and plan administration, and other operations to ensure the effective delivery of the disability benefits.
Responsibilities include:
- Review various disability transaction calculations prepared by staff on random or exception basis to ensure compliance with internal procedures and legislation.
- Oversee rehabilitation consultants supporting members on disability within their return-to-work process, ensuring effective coordination of rehabilitation services, adherence to best practices, and successful reintegration into the workforce.
- Lead the modernization of the LTD restructure by implementing innovative technologies, streamlining processes, and enhancing data analytics capabilities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and member experience.
- Research changes in provincial and federal legislation and analyze how these changes impact internal policies and procedures.
- Act as the first line of resource for staff for legislative compliance questions and benefit administration system questions.
- Oversee the daily operations of the claim adjudication process, ensuring all disability claims are processed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with plan provisions.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the LTD Claims Committee, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, maintains detailed documentation and reporting, and ensure transparency to support fair and equitable decision-making during appeals.
- Identify issues, research implications, and provide recommendations, based on sound judgement, for consideration by the director.
- Develop, review, and revise detailed internal operational policies and procedures, and communicate information to staff.
- Ensure accomplishment of department objectives by delegating appropriately, managing employees, planning, and evaluating department activities, monitoring and reviewing KPIs, and following through on department work plans.
- Provide operational oversight through monitoring and evaluating caseload volumes, managing resources, and overseeing operational procedures to ensure effective and efficient delivery of benefit plan.
- Advise on complex and sensitive file reviews and claim decisions to ensure fair and professional evaluation and resolution of complex inquiries, claims appeals, complaints, or litigation.
- Create internal controls to safeguard plan assets, ensure accuracy and completeness of information, and produce reliable and timely information.
- Responsible for overseeing the annual budget process, conducting variance analysis, and develop accurate financial forecasts to support strategic decision making and financial stability.
