WSP is currently seeking a Commercial Project Manager for our Transportation & Infrastructure business line, within the Commercial Client Services practice of our Major Projects Delivery Team, located at our Vancouver office (other locations in British Columbia can also be considered).

**A day in the life**:
Reporting to our **Commercial Manager **, this position will be focused on aiding with the management of the Owner’s commercial management aspects of their Construction Contract, as well as other general Project Management responsibilities for WSP’s Owner’s Engineering services or Design team services on Design Build Projects.
- In conjunction with Project Controls teams, manage the internal financial health of the project, including accurate reporting of both schedule and cost performance and proactively identifying and controlling unplanned variances
- Organize internal billing drafts, compiling monthly invoices, and following up for approval and payment
- Facilitate the development of solutions through positive working relationships with Legal, Finance, Risk and technical teams
- Manage the resolution of project disputes and/or claims, including gathering and interpreting project records, quantifying damages, and preparing briefing notes
- Deal with schedule issues promptly, to minimize delay claims
- Conduct regular progress reporting to external clients and to internal WSP management
- Maintain organized and up to date records of commercial project information
- Manage continual lessons learned documentation
- Write, suggest and review contract articles and sections and/or schedules as required
- Manage the overall success of the Project’s business objectives and end goals
- Manage the strategy for means and methods of communication with Contractor and other significant stakeholder
- Oversight and management of the Project Teams commercial functioning including ensuring the Project Teams’ understanding of their role as it relates to commercial management
- Guide and re-evaluate the Project Teams’ meetings needs
- Provide project teams and stakeholders with interpretation and clarification of contract and scope requirements and interfacing with legal counsel where required
- Manage the development and implementation of commercial analytical tables to be used for strategizing on approach for issues and potential issues resolution
- Implement Owner’s change management processes during construction including overseeing analysis and response to claims from a strategic perspective as well as to minimize cost and schedule impacts
- Implement Owner’s potential claims processes, including processes for proactively identifying contractor’s perceived deviations from agreed-to scope and evaluating potential impacts
- Manage the cost review of change request/claims and negotiate financial closure Other duties as assigned/required

**What you’ll bring to WSP**
- P.Eng. or other relevant designation, combined with 8-15 years’ experience
- Experience in a similar role on Transportation and Infrastructure / working on major projects
- Strong experience working in multi-disciplinary teams responsible for the delivery of major Transportation/ Infrastructure projects with specific experience mediating issues and facilitating discussions with key stakeholders, Owner’s and Contractor’s to achieve consensus
- Experience working with legal, risk, technical, financial and commercial advisors
- Experience in risk identification, allocation, and quantification for large, complex capital projects
- Experience and understanding of project financing/ structuring of large infrastructure development contracts
- Strong experience writing/ coordinating/ assembling/ interpreting contract documents for large capital projects (both technical and non-technical specifications an asset)
- Experience in contract administration and claims management
- Experience with conflict and issues resolution
- Excellent written, verbal, and management presentation communication skills
- Experience with team management and development
- Experience in both Owner and Contractor roles an asset
- Knowledge of contract law an asset Design-build and collaborative project delivery experience an asset

**Compensation**

Expected Salary (all locations): $72,600 - $123,400

WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to the specific geographic location.
