**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will:

- analyze and interpret ecological data and produce summaries, graphs, and maps
- present scientific findings in written reports, manuscripts and presentations
- assist the Research Scientist in planning, designing, organizing and implementing research projects
- determine sampling design, write field sampling and laboratory protocols, and select study sites and sampling locations

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory requirement**:

- You possess or have the ability to obtain Transport Canada MED-DVS and Marine First Aid Certification within 6 months of hire.

**Data management and computer skills**:

- You have knowledge of experimental design and the use of statistics and computer programs in biological research.
- You have strong computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets, with developed skills in database and information management.

**Knowledge of aquatic ecology**:

- You have knowledge of aquatic ecology and fish biology including in the areas of limnology and fisheries ecology, food web ecology, reproductive biology and invasive species in order to implement aquatic research project design, analysis and reporting.

**Communication skills**:

- You have writing skills to prepare summaries, graphs, maps, as well as written material for publication in primary scientific literature and technical reports.
- You have the ability to communicate with staff, public, agencies, and research collaborators with tact and good judgment in order to foster understanding of client science needs and foster scientific collaboration on various projects.

**Field and lab equipment skills and experience**:

- You have proven experience and abilities to implement field sampling programs under varying environmental conditions.
- You have skills in operating and maintaining various types of fishing gear, boats and motors, and laboratory and limnological equipment.
- You have demonstrated ability to identify and process fish, invertebrate and aquatic habitat samples.

**Project management skills**:

- You have proven initiative, leadership and project management skills in order to coordinate and implement several research projects concurrently.
