**Histocompatibility Clinical Coordinator, Vancouver General Hospital**

The incumbent is responsible for communicating histocompatibility results and coordinating related activities between the immunology laboratory and the Solid Organ and Bone Marrow Transplant clinical programs. Provides a medical technology focus to complement the interdisciplinary teams working at relevant locations.

**What you’ll do**
- Maintain transplant listings and update patient status and testing within the laboratory. Ensure all appropriate histocompatibility testing has been performed prior to activation and listing for transplantation.
- Confirm registration, conduct continuous review, and discontinuation of patients on the active transplant list.
- Communicate with clinical teams (stem cell, kidney, heart, lung, liver, pancreas islets) to review patient status, treatment history, sensitization and other issues.
- Ensure Panel Reactive Antibody (PRA) requests coming into the laboratory are appropriate. Identify patients whose samples are repeatedly drawn for unnecessary PRA testing and communicate to clinical teams the need to have the order cancelled.
- Communicate patient results, review antibody specificities, and participate in the discussion and interpretation of complexities for donor selection.

**What you bring**

**Qualifications**:

- Certification with Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science.
- Graduation from a recognized program in Medical Laboratory Technology plus three years' recent related experience in histocompatibility testing for solid organ and hematopoetic stem cell transplantation or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- You will also have- Ability to organize workload and set priorities.
- Ability to effectively deal with others in a consultative/collaborative method.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with co-workers, physicians and other health care staff one-on-one and in a group.
- Ability to adjust to new or unexpected situations.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
