**Role Summary**:
Reporting to the IT Manager, the IT Supervisor role is to supervise, plan and maintain the operations side of the IT Department including hardware (servers, PCs, network devices) and external communications while adhering to the principles of the Magna Employee Charter. They are to participate in ensuring the IT infrastructure meets the existing and future requirements of the division and its customers. The IT Supervisor is to ensure the consistent support of the WAN, LAN, MES, ERP, Servers and PC systems, while looking for continuous improvement, wherever possible, in a cost-efficient manner exceeding the expectations of the Customer and Magna.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Responsible for the operations side of the Information Technology department
Selects, purchases, implements, and maintains all systems related hardware (Servers, PCs, Printers, RF Scanners, Andon’s, Switches, both in the office and on the shopfloor)
Oversees that operating systems and backup software are up to date and functioning properly.
Ensures safe working conditions for employees in areas of supervision
Ensures employees in areas of responsibility receive the training and development they need to perform their responsibilities effectively
Assists direct reports by coaching, counseling, motivating, and providing technical support as necessary
Conducts performance appraisals on direct reports in a timely manner
Documents all pertinent end user identification information, including name, department, contact information and nature of problem or issue
Prioritize and schedule problems. Escalate problem (when required) to the appropriately experienced Systems Analysts
Record, track and document the Operation Services request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolution
Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and FAQ resources on the Internet/Intranet to aid in problem resolution
Both participate in and facilitate departmental cross training on a day-to-day basis to provide the best possible support and protection of operations by fostering a learning environment of sharing project, business, and technical knowledge with all other team members.
Fully understand both your own role/responsibilities and the same for all others in the department.
Analyze, evaluate, co-ordinate, implement, manage, and support the day-to-day maintenance of all IT hardware and systems as directed by leadership in accordance with departmental standards
Handle the administration/setup of network accounts following departmental procedures and security protocol
Responsible for documenting procedures, problems, and their resolutions
Communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams.
Flex and adapt regarding learning and understanding new technologies.
Conduct research into systems related issues and products.
Prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

**Key Qualifications/Requirements**:
University Degree/College Diploma in a related computer science program with a minimum of 4 recent years of experience in a similar position

Required: IT related work experience (4 - 8 years)

Required: Hands on experience in networking, routing, and switching. CCNA certification a plus

Preferred: Microsoft Windows Server Administration. Linux knowledge a plus.

Preferred: IT experience in an automotive and/or manufacturing background (2-4 years)

Preferred: IT supervisory experience (2 - 4 years)
