incorporate their own teaching style to existing lesson plans by preparing and implementing various instructional strategies, techniques, and learning models to achieve specified learning outcomes and meet course objectives
- establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods and meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress and identify and resolve problem areas in teaching and learning
- communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and support an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning by maintaining appropriate classroom management following College policies and procedures
- actively participate in and contribute to accreditation activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard
- prepare learner performance reports and prior learning assessments as required by the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, as well as other related duties consistent with maintaining quality student-centered instruction.
- The teaching assignment may include any courses as outlined in the Powerline Technician Plan of Training, including both theory and practical. Instructional topics may include pole and climbing safety, AC and DC theory, rigging, structures, mobile training, line work, line design and drawing, above and underground systems and specific terminology associated with the trade.

- demonstrate an understanding of current teaching/learning methods and classroom management.
- have well-developed oral and written communication, analytical, conflict resolution and organizational skills
- have the ability to work independently but also collaboratively as a member of an instructional team while demonstrating a strong commitment to student success
- have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a classroom and shop setting with faculty, staff and students is also required

The required knowledge and skills would have been obtained through:

- Interprovincial Journeyperson Certification in Powerline Technician
- a minimum of six (6) years combined apprenticeship training and recent, relevant trade specific industry experience
- A Pre-employment Certificate, Bachelor of Education (Secondary/Post-Secondary) Degree, instructor training, experience teaching at a post-secondary level, basic computer literacy skills, and operations or managerial experience would all be considered assets.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

**Salary**: $28.18-$57.60 per hour
