**THE POSITION**

KITS is currently seeking a **Financial Controller** who will be responsible for reporting all financial-related matters within the organization and providing leadership and guidance to the KITS Finance team. This is a hands-on role with significant opportunity to grow. Through participation in KITS strategic financial planning, as well as KITS’ day-to-day operations, this role plays an integral part in the Company’s core finance functions, team leadership & development, and implementation of processes and controls.

**WHAT YOU’LL DO**

**Leadership**
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentorship for a team of accounting professionals
- Manage operations of accounting department, including structure, and recruitment
- Inspire innovation in our operations, and in how teams work together
- Demonstrate financial and business acumen to create a collaborative yet agile culture and lead the accounting department to contribute significant value to the business

**Accounting and Finance**
- Supervise and oversee the full-cycle accounting process and monthly close
- Accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly and yearly accounting statements, financial position and budgetary updates;
- Lead all transactional accounting practices including AP, AR, and inventory controls
- Work with executives to develop quarterly targets and budgets, investor presentations, earnings themes, and board materials
- Work with external auditors on the execution of the annual audited IFRS financials
- Identification of accounting issues and assessment of accounting impact under IFRS
- Manage the preparation and review of the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and MD&A in compliance with IFRS

**Team Development**
- Provides leadership and coaching to all staff on key workplace matters
- Reviews payroll and administration of the Company’s stock option plan and RRSP

**Foundational**
- Drive the financial and tax strategies
- Improve and maintain a documented system of effective policies and procedures
- Construct, monitor and enforce reliable control systems
- Implement operational best practices
- Provide continuous process improvements across multiple disciplines

**WHO YOU ARE**
- A change agent with a great attitude and amazing work ethic are non-negotiable
- Proven experience as a Financial Controller or audit experience
- A minimum of 3+ years of post designation experience at the Controller level with 5+ years of total progressive experience strongly preferred
- Experience preparing or auditing consolidated financial statements in the Canadian public reporting environment
- Solid full cycle accounting, cost accounting & public company financial reporting experience. (IFRS strongly preferred)
- CPA designation preferred (CA, CMA, CGA)
- Ability to coach and develop accounting team members
- Detailed-oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience with a professional firm considered an asset
