Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON) is a Board-governed provincial agency that was created to help businesses and researchers innovate and grow. The agency works with innovators, businesses, and researchers at various stages of their IP journey. IPON provides access to expert IP education, financial supports, and mentorship to help its clients better understand how to generate, protect, manage, and commercialize intellectual property. The creation of IPON was a recommendation from the Government of Ontario's Expert Panel on Intellectual Property's report on the issues and opportunities to protect home-grown innovation and strengthen commercialization of IP for the benefit of all Ontarians.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is an executive leader with demonstrated experience leading an organization in a time of growth and evolution, contributing to its overall strategic direction and business planning, and managing vital business operations including Finance, Risk Management, HR, Legal, IT, Procurement, Business Intelligence (analytics and reporting), and Marketing & Communications. The COO champions best practices, effective planning, and timely decision-making, while creating a positive workplace environment for all staff and promoting a culture of hard work, engagement, empowerment, and client service. The COO understands ‘the big picture', finding creative, strategic, and practical solutions to complex problems and ensuring that IPON is well positioned to meet future challenges. The COO respects the role of a Board in setting policy and strategy, and will work with the CEO to provide analysis, advice, and recommendations to the IPON Board in a highly objective manner.

Location: This is a remote-first opportunity within Ontario. We have offices in both Kitchener and Toronto where the team meets as requested or needed.
