**Museum Guide**
**(May - December 2024 Term, $20.43/hour)**

The incumbent is responsible to provide front line costumed interpretation, programming, reception,
and event support of the Pickering Museum Village to the public.

**Applicants for a Museum Guide position must meet the following minimum requirements**:

- secondary educational institution. The City of Pickering will accept any of the following to verify
enrolment in secondary or post-secondary:

- Registrar’s letter confirming enrolment and academic eligibility for the next semester.
- Letter or screen shot confirming your anticipated graduation date.
- Letter or screen shot indicating that you have more credits left to complete in your current
- degree.

- Preference will be given to qualified students who are residents, or whose parents or legal

guardians are residents, within the corporate limits of the City of Pickering, however, this is not to

- Must be available to work the entire duration hired for. There are two (2) durations to choose from
- Summer (typically May to August—schedule TBD)
- Fall/Winter (typically September to December—schedule TBD)

**Successful applicants will possess the following**:

- Full-time attendance in a secondary or post-secondary school.
- Experience in working in a front-line customer service role is an asset.
- Experience in heritage program facilitation is an asset.
- Previous general cashier experience is an asset.
- Well-developed interpersonal, and communication skills (oral and written in English).
- Strong presentation skills in guided tours, or providing information to the public.
- Knowledge of history, heritage, arts, culture, and tourism is an asset.
- Ability to deal courteously and professionally with staff, volunteers, and members of the public.

- Must hold current Standard First Aid, Basic Rescuer CPR-C and Auto External Defibrillator (AED)

certifications.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the Museum.
- Must be prepared to undergo a Vulnerable Sector Check as a condition of employment.
