**Health & Safety Coordinator**

Experienced Health & Safety Coordinator to help us minimize the risk of job-related accidents. You will monitor operations to eliminate hazardous activities and mitigate risks. You will also develop policies to promote occupational health and safety (OHS) awareness. This position is highly involved with all processes in the manufacturing plant.

Health & Safety coordinator should be well-versed in all OHS Regulation and Standards. Your work will be focused on prevention so you need to be diligent and analytical. You will possess a keen eye for detail and a sensitivity for potential dangers.

The goal is to support the creation of a healthy and safe workplace and report directly to the Corporate Health and Safety, Environment Manager.

**Responsibilities**:

- Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks
- Develop and enforce OHS policies (e.g. accident reporting process)
- Support and direct accident investigation procedures
- Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions
- Organize and conduct OHS training plans
- Plan, develop and implement safety training for new employee orientation and annual required training
- Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations
- Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on OHS matters
- Purchasing of specialty safety supplies, products or training items as required
- Claims management responsibility. File claims on time, liaison with claim adjudicators and develop plans with the supervisor/manager RTW program.
- Self-starter yet able to take orders as directed.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Requirements**:

- Proven experience as safety coordinator or similar, manufacturing environment preferred
- In-depth knowledge of OHS guidelines and practices
- Experience in reporting and developing policies
- Experience in implementing OHS training programs
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent communication and advisory skills
- Diligent with an analytical mind
- OHS Certification, degree or diploma and relevant field 3-5 years related experience in safety and environment
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities to work on a team or the ability to self-start.
- Excellent communication skills, strategic thinking abilities, ability to influence
- Strong planning, analytical, organizational and follow up skills
- Excellent people and process management skills
