GC Custom Metal Fabrication is currently recruiting for an experienced Sheet Metal Laser Operator who has a passion for working with specialized sheet metal equipment and being part of the team that both produces and fills various work orders for specialty metal parts on our behalf. This passion results in amazing finished products for our customers from many different diverse work sectors in the economy. The Sheet Metal Laser Operator will have the ability to work on various machinery and equipment commonly found in a sheet metal shop.

In return for your hard work, you will be paid a wage that is dependent on your experience and expertise in the various machines and equipment that you display the required competency ranging from **$ 30 to $ 33 per hour plus overtime and a solid benefit package.**

**GC Custom Metal Fabrication** is a family owned & operated sheet metal Fabrication Company based in South East Edmonton, AB. Starting in 1982, the goal of matching excellent customer service with high quality products has remained the focus. Since then our advanced capabilities have grown to include a variety of CNC programmable machines including laser-cutting, brake forming, upgraded capabilities in machining, waterjet cutting and more, in a 30,000 square foot production facility. Over the past 40 years, this approach has helped our client build strong customer relationships, referrals and repeat clients.

**THE JOB**:
Laser duties
- Operation of laser and automation
- Reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Maintenance of laser machine and related equipment such as dust collector, tower automaton
- Material handling and inventory control, load raw sheets into automated tower, move empty skids to appropriate place.
- Setup and control of all cutting head components such as nozzles, lens, lens protector etc.
- Unloading processed material, sort parts for next operation.
- Delegating and monitoring sorting personnel

**Requirements for the role**:

- 3-5 Years' experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
- 1-3 Years’ experience as a laser operator working with sheet metal forming, fabrication, and general laser operations
- Strong knowledge of tools, concepts, and methodologies of sheet metal fabrication & quality assurance
- Proven experience reading and interpreting drafting drawings and designs
- Able to work in a physical and mental capacity within a shop facility and are capable of lifting 50lbs.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude. Ability to deal effectively a variety of personalities.
- High degree of maturity and conscientious attitude.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of the English language.
- Strong organizational and spatial reasoning skills
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks and accomplish work safely in a time sensitive environment.
- Experience operating a forklift and overhead crane considered a definite asset

**Abilities**
- Works quickly and efficiently by ensuring all tasks are completed within the allotted time frame and by offering ideas for improvements to processes to appropriate supervision
- Pays attention to detail by identifying details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer)
- Possesses the ability to recognize when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
- Applies general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
- Listens to and understands information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences in the English language
- Communicates information and ideas in speaking clearly in order that others may understand
- Works in a safe manner by preventing workplace injuries and/ or accidents, equipment damage and structural building damage.:

- Produces high quality work by maintaining mínimal rejects or non-conforming products

**Working Conditions**
- This position requires individuals who must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
