Administrative Full-time New Position

The Consultant assists Science, Technology, Mathematics, and Engineering (STEM) faculty in Teaching & Learning related matters. They support individual professors, program teams, and STEM-related departments in bringing evidence-informed teaching and assessment practices to the classroom.

Please note that travel to all Conestoga campuses is a requirement for this position. This position will require evening and weekend work throughout the year.

**Responsibilities**:

- Develops resources, micro-courses, and workshops to support faculty in the delivery of STEM and technical programs
- Develops general teaching-related workshops for the broader college community
- Coordinates and creates best practice videos, blog posts, guides
- Designs customized coaching and consultations
- Conducts observations for faculty at all campuses
- Works with other team members, faculty, coordinators, Chairs, and others to identify common learning needs and develop appropriate observation and feedback mechanisms
- Develop and deliver onboarding to new faculty
- Supports the co-delivery of onboarding activities for Conestoga faculty (both full and part-time), including mentoring, delivery of new faculty orientation workshops, and creation and updating of new faculty onboarding resources
- Works with individual professors, programs, and STEM-related departments on teaching-related projects and topics
- Remains current with teaching practices and procedures by teaching one course per year at Conestoga

Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics with additional studies related to STEM education; PhD preferred
- Nine or more years of experience teaching in outcomes-based, post-secondary credit courses; Senior level secondary school experience would be considered
- Previous experience leading “teacher education” and experience with technology-enhanced teaching practices preferred
- High skill level in all aspects of the post-secondary education process (e.g. curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, evaluation, active learning, etc.)
- Strong background in post-secondary, outcomes-based inclusive teaching methodologies, practices, and principles
- High knowledge level in all aspects of the teaching and learning process
- Advanced research, analytical, critical thinking, and report-writing skills
- Excellent Microsoft Office and documentation creation skills
- Good working knowledge of learning management systems
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Strong and demonstrable interpersonal and intercultural skills
- Ability to facilitate difficult conversations
- Coaching skills, consultation, and planning skills
