Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Caretaking Unit, the Caretaker is responsible for cleaning and maintenance duties that may be performed at a variety of buildings and locations. This is routine work involving the performance of a variety of manual and custodial duties. Duties are well outlined and work is reviewed periodically by the Supervisor.

**As a** **Caretaker** **you will**:

- Conduct general cleaning duties in assigned police facilities, including the parking garages
- Conduct the decontamination process of vehicles, holding cells, and interview rooms
- Perform general building maintenance
- Other duties

**Your education and qualifications include**:

- Grade 12 Diploma, GED certificate, or equivalent
- Possess a Valid Full Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License
- General knowledge of cleaning products and methods
- Ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and perform assigned duties with mínimal supervision
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks giving specific attention to details
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to follow safe work procedures
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, i.e. unload heavy items/equipment/supplies, work from ladders, push/pull large and heavy containers.
- Demonstrated ability to safely operate and maneuver equipment
- Must be able to work 10 hour shifts including days, evenings and nights including weekends and holidays as required
- Willingness and ability to successfully complete additional training / accreditation, as required and identified by the Winnipeg Police Service
- The ability to establish and maintain a positive, respectful, healthy work environment that supports the physical, psychological and social working relationships with members at all levels in a team environment

**Minimum Requirements**:

- Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Minimum 18 years of age
- No involvement in any criminal activity within the last two years (including illegal drugs)
- No criminal record for which a Pardon has not been granted

**Conditions of employment**:

- Ability to Pass the Caretaker Physical Ability Test
- Knowledge of the occupational hazards, safety precautions and regulations applicable to the position
- WHMIS training
- Fall Protection and Rescue
- Practical Lift Training
