JOB TITLE: Dietary Aide

JOB PLACEMENT: Waterdown Manor Retirement Home (335 Dundas Street East, Waterdown, ONT)

REPORTING STRUCTURE: Reporting to Management (Director of Care and Operations), the Dietary Aide will working alongside our Lead Cook and Health Care Aide/PSW, as part of the multidisciplinary team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Dietary Aide will work alongside our lead cook to provide meal service to all residents and prepare the dining room and tables for each seating. The dietary aide will also maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of both the dining and kitchen areas and wash all dishes and utensils using specific procedures. Other tasks include delivering food to resident’s rooms, taking attendance for each seating, and assisting with organized resident activities.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING AND EDUCATION Complete all required in-services on a monthly and annual basis

- Ability to interact with seniors including those that are cognitively impaired.
- Excellent organizational, observational, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
- Works independently as well as within a team
- Demonstrates skill in managing responsive behaviours using client centered approach
- Able to work quickly and efficiently
- Time management skills with ability to prioritize and multitask
- Knowledge of sanitation, hygiene, food safety, and understanding of therapeutic diets
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adheres to policies and procedures of Waterdown Manor and regulations set out by the City of Hamilton and RHRA, at all times.
- Demonstrates understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations and the organizations’ health and safety plans, policies and procedures.

Demonstrates understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, resident safety responsibilities and corresponding plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION Completion of secondary school education or equivalent and previous experience in food services at a retirement residence, long term care residence or other hospitality environment preferred

**Hourly Pay comparison: starting at $16.00/hour**

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

**Salary**: $16.00-$18.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 12 hour shift
- 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Waterdown, ON L0R2H0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
