Snowcat Operator
- Groomer

**Summary**:
The Groomer/Snowcat Driver maintains slope conditions to allow for the safe and easy trail access for our tours and also drives the snowcat as required to escort guests to tours. Much of the grooming work is done during the evening/night.

**Responsibilities and Deliverables**:

- Ensure the grooming of the trails to the highest standard possible
- Actively support and promote safety including trail, guest, employee and grooming machine operations
- Follow all 2-way radio communication procedures at all times and have knowledge of emergency contacts and procedures
- Follow all grooming machine operational guidelines as outlined by manufacturer and any TAG specific guidelines
- Awareness of any obstacles including hidden obstacles (ie: underlying pipe, tree stumps and rocks)
- Responsible for reporting and communicating all issues relating to snow maintenance and grooming machines to the Mechanic and Operations Leadership teams
- Maintain good working relationships and communicate work instructions and directions with co-workers
- Minimize down time through basic preventative maintenance, cleanliness and up keep of grooming machines
- Good awareness of changing weather and snow conditions
- Follow daily working instructions and information leadership
- Positively represent TAG with guests and public. For any daytime shifts, will be required to wear uniform
- On-going communication with shop mechanics concerning mechanical problems and be able to assist where needed
- Remain flexible with working hours as the role is a weather dependent position
- Be able to work with the Operations Leadership team to ensure grooming needs stay within budget for the season.
- Plan grooming routes prior to going out by communicating with snowmobile guides and dispatch
- Provide operational guidance and support to ensure snowcat and Cougar Base Operations, operate and comply with all safety regulations as it pertains to COVID-19
- Ensure compliance in all aspects of SOP’s related to COVID-19
- Provide Management feedback and input to improve safety processes and procedures as it pertains to running TAG while keeping our guests and employees safe from COVID-19
- TAG is proud to have a dynamic team who roll up their sleeves to get the work done. As such, this role may require helping out other team members and departments as needed

**Key Qualifications and Attributes**:

- Previous experience an asset, but training available for the right applicant
- Previous experience with mechanical or equipment operation, specifically with diesel engine/hydraulic machines preferred.
- Previous experience operating a snow grooming machine preferred
- Previous experience using 2-way radio preferred
- Must be 18 years of age and have a valid BC driver’s license
- Must be fluent in English - written and spoken
- Must be able to work evenings, late evenings and weekends
- Proven ability to work effectively on a team and be a clear communicator
- Physical demands: Frequent exposure to extreme temperature variations, outside weather conditions, including snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high places and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally very loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to climb on and off vehicles and sit for extended periods of time while driving the grooming machine, walk at will over rugged snowy/icy terrain, climb and hike mountain trails
- Very good vision required: close, distances, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus required
