**Cook/** **Reports to Supervisor/ Director**
**Qualifications**
**Professional**:Nutritionist / Dietician Certificate or Related Experience
Current Food Handler Permit
Knowledge of WHMIS
Current First Aid and C.P.R. Certificates
Police Record Check (within 3 months)
Ability to work with groups of young children
**Duties**:
**A) Menu**
- To plan and develop with the Director a 2 to 4 week rotational menu that ensures the children receive proper nutrition as set out in the Canada Food Guide.
- To ensure all changes to the menu are posted in a timely fashion.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children by having an awareness of allergies and the knowledge of appropriate food choice alternatives.
- Be responsible for the planning, co-ordination and preparation of special events (Holiday meals, celebrations, including mother’s day/ father’s day, valentines, Easter, Christmas, family day etc.)
**B) Budget and Grocery Responsibilities**
- Reporting food orders and cost to Director
- Conducting regular cost comparisons
- Maintaining a current inventory of all food
- Balancing the allowed budget
- Doing the grocery shopping independently to maintain the menu
**C) Sanitizing and up keep of the kitchen**
- Prep in advance
- Laundry maintained
- Inventory of supplies and equipment
**D) Maintenance Responsibilities**:
- Monitoring and documenting regular scheduled maintenance of equipment
- Observing and modeling appropriate use of equipment
- Maintaining a current inventory of all small kitchen items (can openers,
- mixing spoons, bowls, etc. will also be used by room staff)
**E) Housekeeping Responsibilities**:
- To be responsible for maintaining a clean environment in the kitchen including all food
- preparation and storage areas (major appliances, floors, counters, cupboards, etc.).
- The cook will ensure accurate labeling of all items in the kitchen. The cook will also be
- responsible for the laundering and distribution of the face cloths for the classroom
- teachers.
Other duties as required.
**Job Types**: Permanent, Part-time
**Salary**: $15.50-$17.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday

Daily Covid screening, sanitizing and cleaning.
