**The Program**
New Program - Westlock 336-46 King Pins

Recruiting 4 full time Disability Support Workers for a NEW diverse abilities program in Westlock supporting 1-2 persons with developmental disabilities and/or mental health concerns.

Hiring 2 staff each to cover the following shifts, on a rotating 2 week schedule which may include weekends:
Day shift: 12-hr 8am to 8pm
Night awake shift: 12hr 8pm to 8am

**The Position**
Community Disability Support Workers help the person-served achieve their goals by focusing on that individual's unique abilities and provide them with skills/tools to overcome challenges; encouraging them during setbacks and celebrating successes with them.

**In Your Role You Will**
- Assist person-served to develop life skills in the home including household chores (meal prep, laundry, light cleaning, etc.) in a consistent, healthy & safe environment and within their community.
- Connect the individual with their family, friends & community and encourage healthy relationship building.
- Drive person in care (in your own vehicle) within the community and supervise/participate with the client in recreational, leisure, vocational (training/employment)activities.
- Use de-escalation techniques to deal with challenging behaviours

- Minimum Grade 12 Diploma/GED
- 1 year experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, behavior management. (Special Education Assistant, Personal Support Worker, Health Care Aide, etc. will be considered)
- MANDATORY - Valid Class 5 Driver’s License, 3 yrs Canadian driving experience and clean driver’s abstract
- Must be physically able to do lifts/transfers and be able to provide personal care, such as bathing, etc.
- Skills in coaching/assisting individuals in life skills, anger management, daily chores, self help & problem solving, etc.
- Committed to philosophies and principles of community based living for individuals in service.
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention training

In Your Role You Will
- Help individuals achieve and maintain their independence, support their strengths and encourage integration into the community.
- Model &/or when required, provide personal care i.e. grooming, dental care, bathing, toileting, etc.,
- Teach/assist the individual to complete daily household tasks (groceries, food preparation, laundry, cleaning, etc.)
- Behaviour, emotional and mental health supports.
- Encourage participation and social interaction within the community (vocational, recreational, leisure activities)
