Maintenance Technician

Overview:
Norfolk Leaf Company Limited is a tobacco processing plant and warehouse.
**Responsibilities**:
- Supervise and maintain the upkeep of all equipment and facilities, including the Boiler Room and Redryer
- Perform repairs on machinery, equipment, or building system
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Fabricate parts or components as needed
- Provide leadership in troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions
- Deliver exceptional customer service to internal departments
- Work as a member of the maintenance team to ensure the functionality of the facility
- Participate as a Worker Representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee

**Requirements**:
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal
- Strong mechanical knowledge
- Experience in facilities maintenance and repair work
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Demonstrated ability to fabricate parts or components as required
- Leadership skills to supervise maintenance tasks effectively
- Excellent customer service skills to interact with various departments
- First Aid and CPR + AED certification (training provided)
- Willingness to learn and develop skills
Working Conditions:
- Position requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, walking and climbing of stairs and ladders
- Exposure to environmental conditions such as hot and cold temperatures, and working in areas that are dirty, dusty, wet, and noisy
- Appropriate personal protective equipment such as eye protection, hearing protection, masks, etc. based on location throughout the facilities must be worn
- CSA Green Patch safety boots are required
- Heavy lifting may be required
- Working at heights (training provided)
- Working in confined spaces (training provided)
