**Anti-Indigenous Racism Cultural Safety Training Facilitator**
- Ogimaawabiitong is committed and dedicated to providing culturally appropriate health and social services which address the needs and enhance the well being and capacity of community members in our affiliated First Nations._
**Project Overview**:
Ogimaawabiitong - Kenora Chiefs Advisory (KCA) has developed an Anti-Racism and Cultural Safety (ARCS) curriculum, with the support of Sherry Copenace and the invaluable guidance of KCA’s 8 affiliated community members. It will be delivered to all KCA employees and service delivery partners as part of the new hire orientation process and on an ongoing basis throughout an employee’s career to support the progressive development of cultural competency.
First Nations communities and peoples have long advocated for better health care that encompasses traditional approaches and culturally centered care and by taking the lead and creating better opportunities for anti-racist and cultural safety training, it allows us to work towards the overall goal of health transformation and creating equity in these spaces.
**Request for Services**:
Ogimaawabiitong - Kenora Chiefs Advisory (KCA) is seeking a Training Facilitator to begin implementation of the Anti-Racism and Cultural Safety (ARCS) curriculum. This role involves engaging diverse groups of participants to foster understanding, awareness, and action towards anti-Indigenous racism, and cultural safety for Anishinaabe patients in Kenora/Treaty 3. The ARCS Training Facilitator will collaborate with the Strategy & Innovation Department to help deliver, evaluate, and improve the curriculum.
- **September 2024 - **Begin KCA onboarding/training.
- **October 2024 - **Trial internal (KCA) training cohort/obtain feedback on
curriculuM/Facilitation. Begin promotion at LWDH/KCA and open participant sign-up.
- **November 2024 - March 2026 - **Begin training with LWDH/KCA staff.
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Training Facilitation**
Ø Plan, facilitate, and refine anti-racism & cultural safety training curricula and materials tailored to the local healthcare audience.
Ø Utilize various instructional techniques and technologies to engage participants and enhance learning outcomes.
Ø Work closely with Strategy & Innovation team to align training with KCA-LWDH’s partnership goals.
Ø Provide mentorship to facilitators in-training.
**Participant Engagement**
Ø Create a safe and inclusive environment for open dialogue and discussion on sensitive and challenging topics related to race and racism, particularly in healthcare.
Ø Encourage active participation and facilitate constructive conversations among participants.
Ø Comfortable working alongside Anishinaabe Elders and Knowledge-Keepers.
Ø Address questions, concerns, and resistance effectively and empathetically.
**Data Collection & Assessment**
Ø Implement evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of the ARCS training program.
Ø Collect and analyze feedback from participants to continuously improve training content and delivery methods.
Ø Report on training outcomes and provide recommendations for future training initiatives.
**Qualifications**:
**Education & Experience**
Ø Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Human Resources, or a related field.
Ø 3-5 years of experience in facilitating training sessions, preferably in anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
**Skills & Competencies**
Ø Deep understanding of systemic racism, racial equity, and social justice issues, particularly in healthcare
Ø Proven ability to facilitate challenging conversations and manage group dynamics effectively.
Ø Excellent skills in the following areas: computer, organization, networking, interpersonal, presentation and communication (written and oral)
Ø Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language and experience in working in First Nations communities considered an asset

Ø Due to the sensitive nature of the topics covered within the curriculum, must feel strong enough on their personal journey with Intergenerational Trauma, Truth, and Reconciliation
