**Tasks**:
- Determine geographical position using navigational instruments, maps and charts
- Maintain vessel's navigational instruments and equipment
- Enforce regulations in Canadian waters
- Record vessel's progress, weather and sea conditions in ship's log
**Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses**:
- Transport Canada Certificate of Competency
- Transport Canada Security Awareness Training for All Seafarers
- Nautical Institute Certificate
- Marine Officer Certificate
- Marine Advanced First Aid
- Marine Emergency Duty (MED) Training Program
