**Title**:_ Youth Care Worker (Overnight Supervisor - Multiple)_

**Reports to**: _Staffing Coordinators, Director of Transitional Housing_

**Based at**: _SCP Shelter & _Peer-homes_

**Employment**: _Full Time_

**Pay Range**: _Starting_ _at_ _$20 - $24 based on education & experience_

**Hours**: _35+ hours/week, 3-month probation and review_

**Description**:

- SCP’s overnight supervisors work closely with the staffing coordinators to oversee the night time operations of SCP’s youth shelter and peer homes. Overnight supervisors provide direction and support to a diverse team of overnight staff who are responsible for youth engagement, medication administration, crisis response/management, communication, documentation, and general property upkeep. As an overnight supervisor you will be _expected to comply with industry standards and best practices while adhering to all SCP mandated approaches, policies, processes, and protocols in the development & support of SCP’s overnight team._

**Qualifications (Education & Experience)**
- Secondary completion required (High school diploma or equivalent)
- Minimum 1 year front line youth care experience
- Preference will be given to applicants with training/experience in
- Developing, leading and supporting teams
- Coaching & Development
- Crisis management
- Preference will be given to applicants experience in working with
- Ministry of Social Services, Child & Family Services, & Community Resources
- Youth with exceptionalities, gang involvement, generational Trauma/PTSD/CPTSD
- Indigenous populations, vulnerable populations
- Individuals experiencing current/previous exploitation
- Individuals managing substance use and/or mental health concerns
- Non profit organizations

**Requirements (Skills & Competencies)**
- **Valid Driver’s License with Driver's Abstract**:

- **Criminal Record Check **with** Vulnerable Sector Clearance**:

- **Cultural awareness required**
- Strongly developed interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, & communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills, time management, attention to detail, & accuracy
- Ability to work independently, multi-task, & meet deadlines
- Demonstrated mastery of SCP sanctioned approaches (NHA, Youth Centered Care, Harm Reduction, & Trauma Informed Care)
- Preference will be given to applicants with CPR/First-Aid, Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention (DPVS), ASIST (Suicide Intervention), & Mental Health First Aid

**Supervisory Duties & Responsibilities (Outcomes to be monitored quarterly)**

**Staff Development & Support**
- Develop, manage, and oversee the peer home’s overnight team (weekly 1:1, coaching, development, feedback, & discipline)
- Support new overnight staff in shadow shifts and first shifts
- Coach overnight staff on mastering and implementing SCP’s official approaches
- Provide insight into staff development, identify barriers, provide feedback & coaching
- Suggest staff training, support, & adaptations as appropriate
- Provide input for yearly staff reviews
- Document check ins and coaching in overnight staff’s personnel files
- In collaboration with staffing coordinators Initiate/implement progressive discipline as required, & document in personnel files
- Support staff in managing difficult/challenging youth behaviours
- Crisis Intervention/management & debrief with overnight staff following crisis
- Facilitate/attend staff meetings
- Relay information from staff meetings directly to overnight staff
- Staff conflict intervention as required
- Act as intermediary between staffing coordinators and overnight team

**Quality Assurance**
- Observe and review staff/youth interactions for alignment with SCP approaches
- Review communications and documentation for quality and compliance
- Document observations and coaching in personnel files
- Support the upkeep of SCP’s peer homes health and safety standards
- Ensure overnight staff are completing night-time cleaning checklist
- Ensure overnight staff are maintaining safety standards (regular fire drills, smoke detector checks, safety checks, etc.)

**Overnight Duties & Responsibilities (Coverage As Required)**

**Youth Advocacy & Support**
- Medication administration as directed
- Monitor youth during quiet hours
- Knowing the whereabouts and ensuring the safety of the youth overnight
- Checking in with youth if they return home past curfew
- Mediating between youth when conflicts occur
- Managing crisis situations
- Being a positive role model and mentor
- Preparing lunches for the next day
- Ensuring youth are out of bed and getting ready for school or day programs
- Transportation to school as required

**Communication & Documentation**
- Communicate with evening staff and morning staff at **EVERY** shift change (IDRs, meds, youth whereabouts, emergent situations, etc.)
