Durham Reporting and Mediation Services is expanding and are looking motivated individuals to join our company. We provide court reporters for civil examinations in our offices and outside offices, as well as for government tribunals in various locations across Southern Ontario. Court reporting can be an exciting and rewarding career. If you have an interest in the legal field, this will be the job for you. We are looking for dedicated and motivated professional individuals to join our growing company.

Our court reporters are self-employed contractors and are called upon on an as-needed basis. This is a part-time position with some weeks being of a full-time nature. The work week is Monday to Friday.

This is a freelance position offering part to full-time hours that vary dependent on the week. Our main offices are in Whitby and Toronto but have offices and provide services to clients across Southern Ontario. Full training will be provided for motivated individuals looking to build a career at one of Canada’s premier court reporting businesses.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Provide excellent customer service and professionalism at all times
- Provide on-site and in-field court reporting services as assigned
- Recording and note taking for all proceedings
- Monitoring equipment to ensure accurate recordings
- Recording detailed notes to assist in the accurate completion of transcripts
- Ensuring all equipment is in working order by testing equipment before each matter
- Troubleshooting and reporting any equipment issues to the supervisor
- Maintain confidentiality of all recordings
- Provide minute taking services and produce quality minutes (for those who have previous experience)

- Must have a valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a vehicle with ability to travel

- Knowledge of legal terminology and processes

**Job Type**: Freelance

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
