**Title**:Volt Hockey Coach
**Reports to**: Director, Access & Awareness
**Status**:Part-Time Contract
**Schedule**: 3 hours each Saturday from 9:00 AM - 12:00PM at the Carling Heights Community Centre.
Additional hours for competitions, some travel required.
**Location**:London, ON

**Introduction to Volt Hockey**:
Volt Hockey is an accessible form of hockey, played in a specially designed Hockey Sport Chair by people with a variety of
disabilities. Volt Hockey is played by over 50 teams in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and across the province and
country led by Variety - the Children’s Charity (Ontario).

The game is played by two teams in an indoor court or gymnasium. There are three players on each team on the court
at a time, with two 15-minute halves in a game and two referees. The game is played in a standardized manner around
the globe, according to an International Rule Book. One of the unique features of VOLT Hockey is that the chairs do not
belong to the players, but instead to a Hockey Club facility where they are stored and maintained. Variety - the
Children’s Charity (Ontario) has purchased chairs, provides support with training, technical maintenance, and resources.

**Summary**:
Variety is seeking a Volt Hockey coach who has experience coaching hockey to translate those coaching skills to Volt
Hockey and who can foster athlete development in an environment that is fun, safe, encouraging, and inclusive.

**Responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:

- Creating a training environment that is inclusive and supportive.
- Coaching children and youth in the game of Volt Hockey while developing the knowledge of the game,
- confidence, game strategies and skills.- Preparing and supporting athletes for competitions locally, provincially with a possibility of national or
- international tournaments.- Actively recruiting new athletes to the team.
- Establishing and maintaining a positive working relationship with the athletes, parents and volunteers involved
- in the program.- Participating in company training that includes Health & Safety, AODA, and Plan to Protect.
- Participating in Variety’s Orientation program and adhere to established organizational policies and protocols.
- Handling other duties as assigned.

**Key Competencies and Qualifications**:

- Level 1 Certified Coach with the National Coaching Certification Program an asset.
- Experience coaching hockey.
- Experience coaching children and youth.
