Statistics Canada is hiring interviewers (enumerators) to help facilitate a census test for the 2026 Census of Population.
The primary responsibility of enumerators is to collect completed census test questionnaires from households.
- have reached the age of majority in their current province or territory of residence
- live in a census test area
- be a Canadian citizen or be a permanent resident or be otherwise eligible to work in Canada
- have a Canadian home address
- be available to work between 20 and 40 hours per week, and be flexible as the majority of the work is completed in the evenings and on weekends
- be able to travel locally
- have reliable Internet and phone service
- successfully complete the census test hiring process
Statistics Canada conducts a census test to evaluate the new and modified questions in the questionnaire and the collection procedures and tools in preparation for the 2026 Census of Population and the 2026 Census of Agriculture. Testing ensures that quality data are available in 2026 to support a wide variety of programs. We are conducting most of the activities that will be done for the 2026 Census - from questionnaire design to data collection.
