GrainsConnects’ Reford, Saskatchewan location has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager, with minimum 5 years of experience in an agriculture environment. The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall performance and maintenance of the grain elevator including the health and safety of the working environment. Additionally, the Operations Manager is responsible for the strategic direction, leadership of all Facility Operators and the quality, optimization, productivity and, ultimately the profitability of the elevator.

Key objectives include a safe and healthy environment for everyone at the location; clean, efficient and well-maintained physical facilities; excellent customer service; and positive working relationships with colleagues and business partners.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Supervise daily operations of the grain elevator facility and the elevator employees, fostering an environment of continuous improvement
- Manage the shipping and receiving, grading, binning, cleaning, processing, blending and shipping of products, while ensuring optimal use of facility space and equipment to meet shipping commitments
- Manage human resources including hiring, promoting, evaluating, and exiting elevator employees
- Oversee facility housekeeping, inspection preparation, and the preventative maintenance program and repair of facility equipment
- Collaborate with Merchandising, Trading team, and Transportation Logistics to maximize throughput and profitability, including maintaining knowledge of end-user requirements to meet client specifications
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with corporate safety policies and procedures, best practices and government legislation
- Promote effective communications and collaborative working relationships between management, staff, and corporate head office

**KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
**Essential**
- A minimum of five (5) years progressive responsibility in agri-business and/or other related customer service function, three (3) of which should be in a direct management capacity
- Effective leadership and coaching skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate staff and work cooperatively with others
- Strong knowledge of the overall grain industry, including related regulations and practices
- Knowledge of grain storage threats
- Ability to identify common downgrading factors found in cereal grains
- Proven knowledge of elevator equipment
- Competency in grading, cleaning, and handling canola, wheat, oats, and barley
- Ability to work overtime evenings and weekends when required

**Desirable**
- Strong analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy and customer service, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Completion of a grain grading course is considered an asset

**EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS**:

- Post-secondary degree in Agriculture or Business Administration is preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience that results in the required level of knowledge, skill and competence will be considered)
