The Resettlement Worker works with newly arrived GARS clients for the first 15 days from arrival to identify and prioritize their immediate settlement needs, assist them in accessing services and resources, and help them to settle in their new environment. The position provides short-term interventions, primarily addressing basic needs including housing assistance and short-term services to ensure support and follow-up with critical settlement and integration issues.

Roles Responsibilities

Client Services (80%):

- Provides services in a supportive, and culturally sensitive manner
- Informs and orients clients about settlement related issues
- Facilitates workshops and group sessions to increase clients' understanding of Canadian culture, civic process, rights and responsibilities and other issues relevant to their settlement needs
- Provides orientation sessions on programs and services available in the community
- Ensures their boarding at the residence meets acceptable standards and support their transitioning to stable housing after 15 days
- Facilitates referrals and access to available resources in the community, social services, professional services, and government programs
- Advocates on client's behalf when appropriate to other service providers
- Provides outreach services to new clients and families
- Organizes and provides other support groups as needed

Other Duties (20%):

- Participates actively in all mandated training, staff meetings and workshops
- Maintains and submits accurate tracking documents and monthly reporting updates to the supervisor
- Maintains appropriate database records and files pertaining to settlement services provided to clients
- Ensures appropriate and confidential handling of all client information and files
- Operates in accordance with the policies, guidelines, and protocols of the program and partner organizations
- Accepts other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- College diploma in Social Services, or related fields
- Minimum of one year of experience in working with newcomer families, including adults, children youth & seniors and working in partnerships with other community agencies/programs
- Must have an understanding of services that aid newcomers from municipal, provincial, and federal levels
- High level of proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal formats, and when interacting with both individuals and groups
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, CCLC staff, school staff and other partners, and establish cooperative relationships across various stakeholders
- Ability to read and authenticate client documents
- Ability to prepare standard reports,forms, and program statistics
- Ability to provide trauma and violence informed care
- An appropriate level of proficiency in the principles and practices of newcomer services, group facilitation and community development
- Ability to handle conflicting priorities in a disrupted environment
- Ability to stay organized and prioritize work in a high volume, and in a deadline-oriented environment
- Ability to work with individuals and groups from diverse cultural backgrounds and commitment to inclusion
- Ability to complete a satisfactory Vulnerable Persons Police Check
- Possess a driver's license, clean abstract, and a safe vehicle
- Ability to speak **Arabic **is preferrable

Hours of work:
Shifts are 1:00pm to 9:00pm, including a Saturday OR Sunday shift required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Contract

**Salary**: $26.41 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- London, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Experience**:

- working with newcomer families: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:

- Arabic (preferred)
