**Summary**:
This role can be based in either Vancouver, BC, Santiago, Chile or Lima, Peru and will require travel to site in Lima.

Reporting to the Teck Compañia Mineral Zafranal (CMZ) Project Services Manager, the Project Controls Manager will serve as a senior resource for directing and implementing project controls methods, procedures, and systems on medium to major projects (total installed costs of projects could range from $1 to $2B). This role is responsible for supporting the CMZ Project through detailed design and execution. For projects in Construction there is an expectation of the role being site-based on a rotation to be determined.

The area of project controls includes, estimating, scheduling/planning, cost control, change management, risk management and progress reporting for home office and construction. This role will also have a large component of integration into the overall Project Services function, including contracts, procurement and across the entire project team.

On a project assignment, the Project Controls Manager is accountable to the Project Director (via Project Services Manager) for the planning and implementation of effective project controls resources, processes, and systems on the project, within the standards set by the functional Manager of Project Controls in the Project Development Group (PDG). This will involve close oversight of Teck’s Service Providers and delivery partners. As Project Controls Manager the individual will take on an active role and be accountable for project controls outcomes, in particular providing mentorship and coaching to other project controls team members and consultants. This role will provide nonroutine cost control, organisational change and planning guidance to the larger team.

**Project Overview**

The Zafranal Project is managed by Compañia Minera Zafranal (“CMZ”) in which Teck holds an 80% interest and Mitsubishi Materials Corporation a 20% interest. The project is a mid-sized copper-gold mine development opportunity in southern Peru at moderate elevation with good access to existing road and port infrastructure.

The Feasibility Study (“FS”) was completed in June 2019 and contemplates a 65 ktpd open-pit mine and concentrator operation producing an average of 125 ktpa copper in concentrate over the first five years and 78 ktpa copper in concentrate over a 19-year mine life at C1 cash costs of $1.16/lb and $1.49/lb respectively, net a significant gold credit in concentrate (using $3.50/lb Cu and $1,550/oz Au). A mineral inventory for possible mine life extension has been identified in drilling.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Nurture and demonstrate Teck’s commitment to safety and environmental protection as a core value
- Participate in the development of appropriate RFP criteria, define bid evaluation criteria, and conduct bid reviews of consultants and contractors in the function of Project Controls.
- Develop project controls management plans, both internal and from service providers, in the areas of: Estimating, Planning, Cost Management, Organisational Change, Progress & Performance Management, and Reporting
- Set-up and implement various project controls systems, processes, and workflows of the project (internal and with appropriate service provider input)
- Prepare and implement the project specific procedures and guidelines for project controls in alignment with the Project Procedures Manual (PPM) and project set-up requirements
- Assist in developing and reviewing Work Breakdown Structures, Work Packages, Estimates and Schedules at each phase of the project
- Develop the project Control Accounts as an integration point of Cost, Schedule, Resourcing, and Procurement
- Provide support and interface with Project Accounting and/or Business Unit Finance groups
- Provide timely, accurate, and in-depth analysis of project health with respect to trends and variances on the Control Accounts; provide root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions
- Attend and actively participate in the weekly Project Controls review meetings, organisational change meetings, project services meetings, or any other regularly occurring meeting, as appropriate
- Build and prepare project weekly and monthly reports
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly project presentations, as appropriate
- Perform project control audits on service providers, as appropriate
- Support the independent review of project controls plans and performance for Setup Checks, Health Checks, or Stage Gates
- Gather all project stage information for inclusion in the in-house project database

**Qualifications**:

- Degree or diploma in engineering, accounting, finance or business, or diploma in a trade is required
- Minimum of five years of project controls experience, with preference to mining/industrial projects
