Safety Officer

**Company Description**

**Position Description**
- A deep understanding of the Logistics and Transportation Industry.
- Experience and knowledge with Canadian insurance & safety regulations.
- The ability to work effectively within a team and communicate directly with drivers.

The main tasks associated with this position include:

- Manage the truck insurance program.
- Participate in the Fulger Transport Safety Program including training, legislative compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Work with the Safety Department to help ensure all departmental objectives are met.
- Act as the first point of contact for drivers with questions or concerns.
- Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) ensuring that committee objectives are met.
- Reviewing incident reports and conducting driver accident investigations.
- Various types of reporting including CVOR maintenance, LMIA assessments, insurance claims, etc.
- Participate and oversee driver recruitment while promoting driver retention.
- Report directly to the Safety Manager.
- Other tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**Experience**: This individual must have at least 1 year of safety experience and at least 2 years experience within the Transportation Industry.

**Education**: Highschool diploma is required. Post secondary education within safety or another relevant field would be considered an asset.

**Skills**:

- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Extremely organized and detail oriented.
- Must possess a strong work ethic.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a safety team.
- Solid interpersonal skills.
- Competent with the commercial vehicle claim process.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $25.00-$31.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- Trucking Industry: 1 year (preferred)
- Safety: 1 year (required)

Ability to Relocate:

- Essex, ON N8M 2X7: Relocate before starting work (required)
